WAM® AL II LW – Lightweight

The newest addition to the WAM® AL II Family of products, WAM® AL II LW, is a Lightweight refractory castable designed to provide significant insulating capability at a reduced weight; all while remaining non-reactive and non-wetting to molten aluminum metal.  Like all the WAM® AL II Family products, the Lightweight version is never degraded by penetration of metal nor subsequent formation of corundum within the refractory.

 

Transport vessels such as ladles are ideal application areas, where one desires to limit the overall weight of the vessel while maximizing its efficient thermal profile and the refractory's inertness to molten aluminum.  WAM® AL II LW is also ideally suited for furnace roofs, upper sidewalls, doors, and as a backup lining.  It has a density lower than molten aluminum, which allows opportunities for the material to be used as floats or other similar refractory devices as well.

 

The weight of refractory required to line an area with WAM® AL II LW is significantly less than standard dense castables commonly used, thus allowing for your furnace to have the most efficient lining design possible. WAM® AL II LW used in combination with the WAM® AL II Family of products, allows for the design of your vessel's refractory lining to provide toughness where needed and thermal efficiency where desired, all of course with the non-wetting inertness standard to the WAM® AL II Family of products.
