WAM® 95 SC – Standard Cement Castable

WAM® 95 SC is a standard cement containing castable designed for high temperature applications. WAM® 95 SC is composed primarily of tabular alumina aggregate allowing the material to be suitable for use up to 3300°F. This castable is available in a coarse version which increases the material abrasion and impact resistance.

 

Standard cement castable systems contain a relatively high level of cement (Typically 15-20%) as such they permit a broad range of water without negatively affecting properties, are less susceptible to temperature variations relative to set and working times and are very easy to place with typical vibration methods. Because the cement content is relatively high, they are typically not suitable for higher temperature applications. However, WAM® 95 SC contains a high temperature refractory cement which in combination with the tabular alumina aggregate gives this castable the highest maximum temperature limit of the standard cement castables.

 

WAM® 95 SC finds application in several areas as a general use high thermal protection material. This includes steel and iron ladles and associated furniture. It is used in delta sections and troughs used for high temperature processed alloys, specifically vacuum induction alloys and processes.
