WAM® 95 EMT – Enhanced Matrix Technology

WAM® 95 EMT is an enhanced monolithic castable designed for high temperature applications.  It is composed primarily of tabular alumina aggregate. This allows the material to be suitable for use up to 3300oF.


Like a standard cement castable they are very robust and are less susceptible to temperature variations relative to set and working times and are very easy to place with typical vibration methods. However, like a low cement castable they require less water which results in better physical properties.


It is available in a coarse version which increases the material abrasion and impact resistance. WAM® 95 EMT is the highest maximum temperature limit of the enhanced matrix castables.


WAM® 95 EMT finds application in several areas as a high temperature thermal protection material. It is also resistant to a variety of high temperature slags and chemical reactions due to its high alumina content. It is used in steel and iron ladles and associated furniture. It is used in Delta sections and troughs used for high temperature processed alloys, specifically vacuum induction alloys and processes. The fine version is commonly used to make high quality, detailed precast shapes for a variety of applications requiring chemical and thermal resistance. It is commonly used for applications in reducing atmospheres such as furnaces used to treat electrical components.
