WAM® 80 VS LC – Silica Based Low Cement Castable

WAM® 80 VS LC is a low cement castable containing vitreous silica and is suitable for use up to 1800oF. At temperatures over 1800oF, vitreous silica will undergo a non-reversible phase change that will cause damage when the product is cooled below this temperature.


The presence of the vitreous silica provides for excellent insulation and low thermal expansion below the transition temperature. It also provides a reasonable amount of abrasion resistance.


WAM® 80 VS LC finds application in several areas where the combination of abrasion resistance, thermal insulating value and volume stability is required and where the operating temperature does not exceed  1800oF. Examples of these areas are in launderers for aluminum, ash hoppers, petroleum refining applications involving catalyst, and flash calciners.
