WAM® 70 EMT – Enhanced Matrix Technology

WAM® 70 EMT is a high temperature enhanced monolithic castable.  It has the properties of a low cement castable with the robustness of a standard cement castable. It is composed primarily of a high grade mullite containing aggregate. This allows the material to be suitable for use up to 3000oF.

Similar to standard cement castables, EMT castables are very forgiving and are less susceptible to temperature variations relative to set and working times and are very easy to place with typical vibration methods. However, like a low cement castable they require less water which results in better physical properties. In addition, unlike a standard cement castable, EMT castables can be pumped and shotcreted.

WAM® 70 EMT finds application in several areas as a high temperature, low reactivity thermal protection material. This material is commonly used in higher temperature areas utilizing precast materials. This includes furnaces, ladles, and other furniture  for iron foundries and mills. The AL version has been used in aluminum processing and transport vessels.
